Lauro H. Flores has been an editor of the journals The Americas Review and Metamorfosis: Northwest Chicano Magazine of Art and Literature and has served on many editorial boards. His works include The Floating Borderlands: Twenty-Five Years of U.S. Hispanic Literature, The Rebel, Alfredo Arreguín: Patterns of Dreams and Nature, José Luis Rodríguez: Myth, Magic & Memory, Fulgencio Lazo: Reconstruction of Memory, Arturo Artorez: Time & Chance, A Arreguín: Correspondencias and Artists in the Pacific Northwest.
Nowadays Lauro is a Professor of Chicano and Latin American literatures and cultures at the University of Washington, Seattle. During his career at the university, he has been Chair of AES, Chair of Latin American Studies, Special Assistant to the Provost, Director of the Center for Chicano Studies and Acting Chair of Spanish and Portuguese Studies.
Lauro also served as a visiting associate professor at the University of California—Los Angeles and Stanford University.

Lauro H. Flores married Christine E. Yuodelis on December 24, 1984. They have three children - Simitrio, Rafael Algardis and Leonor Teresa Elizabeth.
