Education

Bachelor of Arts, Howard College, Birmingham, Alabama, 1886, Doctor of Divinity, 1897. Graduate Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky, 1889. Post-graduate work, same school, 1890.

Studied in Germany and at Columbian (now George Washington University, and University of Alabama.

Career

Entered Baptist ministry, 1884, ordained, 1888. Pastor Mount Vernon Church in Woodford Company, Kentucky, 1888-1892, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 1892-1924. Professor Bible and church history, Howard College, since 1924, also pastor Edgewood Church, Birmingham.

President Alabama Baptist State Convention 3 terms. Chairman educational commission, same. President Southern Baptist Young People’s Union 10 terms.

President Rotary International 1 year.
