The building is considered Mr. Coquard’s masterpiece in architecture, a Romanesque structure modeled after the Abbey of St. Denis in Paris, France. The nave, transept and apse were built between 1895 and 1900, while the facade is a later erection, designed by another architect, David Dubach.
