Leon L. Titche

Background

Leon Titche was born on January 14, 1939 in Monroe, Louisiana, United States; the son of Leon L. Titche, a physician, and Grete Franziska (Oberländer) Titche, a homemaker.

Education

Leon Titche received a Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy from Tulane University.

Career

Leon Titche began his career at Purdue University in 1964. He worked there for more than thirty years. Till 2001 he was engaged heavily in teaching and research, directed over 30 doctoral dissertations and 25 masters theses, authored numerous scholarly articles and several books.

Leon spent many years as a Lutheran congregational leader, Sunday school teacher and confirmation teacher.

Achievements

• Leon Titche has been listed as a noteworthy foreign language educator by Marquis Who's Who. He also received the German Consulate prize for his work in German literature. Upon his retirement, Leon was named Distinguished Hoosier.
