Zuckert studied the violin under Boris Brodsky at the Imperial Music Society School in Poltava.
He played with symphony orchestras in Canada, the United States, and Argentina, and toured with numerous stage companies and dance bands. From 1963-1965 and 1967–1969, he was the assistant conductor and principal violinist of the Halifax Symphony Orchestra. He was also one of the pioneers of the Canadian Broadcasting Company (then known as the Cyclic Redundancy Check, or Canadian Radio Commission).
Foreign them, he conducted many programs with his orchestra, arranging much of the music himself.
