Leonard Szymczak was born on November 9, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, into the family of Stanley and Estelle (Petrola) Szymczak.
In 1969 Leonard received Bachelor of Arts at Loyola University of Chicago, and then he earned Master of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle in 1971. Finally, he had a further study at Family Institute of Chicago in 1974 - 1976.
For the past 35 years, Leonard has worked both in Australia and America as an educator and counselor of individuals, couples and families. He is the author of "The Roadmap Home: Your GPS to Inner Peace", an Amazon Bestseller in December, 2009 as well as the novel, "Cuckoo Forevermore", a light-hearted satire on psychotherapy.
Leonard has also conducted countless seminars, and has written numerous articles on mental health, personal and spiritual growth, stress management and relationship building. Leonard writes, counsels clients, and conducts seminars on writing and personal/spiritual growth. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Throughout his life, Leonard has been committed to ongoing personal growth and believes firmly in the power of the individual to overcome adversity and transform one’s life. He utilizes the concept of the hero’s journey to help individuals rewrite their stories into amazing adventures. When connected to their inner GPS, they can shift problems and pain into opportunities for healing and growth.
Leonard is divorced and has two children: Melissa and Nathaniel Szymczak.
