(The thirty-first annual convention of the Parapsychologic...)
The thirty-first annual convention of the Parapsychological Association, held in Montreal, Quebec, included over 30 original presentations representing various aspects of contemporary parapsychological thought and activity. These previously unpublished papers, abstracted in this volume, deal with such issues as emerging PK paradigms, psychic 'signatures,' REG and EEG experiments, psychometrics and free-response studies, observational theories, poltergeists, remote viewing, and Ganzfeld studies. One symposium examined gender-related issues in parapsychology, and another addressed GESP targets in psi research. Published in full are two invited addresses: 'The Healer Phenomenon: Implications for Parapsychology' by Bernard Grad and 'Psi Phenomena and Temporal Lobe Activity: The Geomagnetic Factor' by Michael Persinger. The Presidential Address by Dean Radin ('The Tao of Psi') is also reproduced in full.

The 32nd annual convention, held in San Diego, covered a broad range of contemporary parapsychological topics. Nineteen original presentations of papers are abstracted here, in addition to a symposium devoted to examining different approaches to the target in psi research. Papers cover spontaneous psi experiences; random number generator and Ganzfeld experiments; the role of magicians in parapsychology; PK on living systems; EEG correlates of ESP; psi in relation to geomagnetism and the pineal gland; free-response ESP targets; ESP in relation to memory and academic achievement tests; meta-analyses of forced-choice precognition and displacement effects; and historical studies on the lives and contributions of Eileen Garrett and J.B. Rhine. With Arthur Hastings' Invited Address and Hoyt Edge's Presidential Address.

(The scope of contemporary parapsychological research and ...)
The scope of contemporary parapsychological research and thought is reflected in the numerous contributions to the 33rd annual convention of the Parapsychological Association, held August 1990 in Chevy Chase, MD. The current volume contains abbreviated versions of 24 original papers presented at the convention, covering such topics as innovative procedures in parapsychology, statistical issues, meta-analyses of extraversion/ESP studies and dice/PK studies, Ganzfeld research, brain activity and ESP, displacement effects and psi-missing, historical accounts of spiritualism and early psychical research, defensiveness and psi, surveys of opinions on parapsychology and psi-related experiences, and psi in counseling. Also included are abstracts of contributions to a symposium on 'International Communication and Collaboration in Parapsychology' and separate panel discussions on poltergeists and on children and psi. The Presidential Address by K.R. Rao on 'Heretical Parapsychology: On the Scope and Substance of Psychical Research' is reproduced in full, and abstracted versions of two invited addresses 'The Enemies of Parapsychology' by R.A. McConnell and 'Is Psi a Subcognitive Process?' by G.R. Schmeidler) are featured.
