Lloyd Axelrod, American Endocrinologist, diabetologist. Achievements include discovery prostacyclin production by adipose tissue, regulation of lipolysis by prostaglandins in adipose tissue and roleof prostacyclin in pathogenesis of hemodynamic complications of diabetic ketoacidosis; and description of insulin-like growth factor II(IGF-II) in pathogenesis of tumor-induced hypoglycemia.
