Vera Prilepskaya was born on December 5, 1938.
After graduating from the Smolensk Medical Institute Vera Prilepskaya worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist in Uzlovaya, Tula region (1966-1969), then in Moscow maternity hospital No.11 named after Clara Zetkin (1969-1973). The next stage of Vera Nikolaevna’s professional growth is connected with the City Clinical Residence of Moscow (1973-1975). In 1975-1977 years she was a regional gynecologist and endocrinologist of the Zhdanovsky district of Moscow. During 1977-1987, Vera worked in the Moscow Regional Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology: a doctor, a junior, a senior researcher, the head of scientific advisory department. From 1987 to the present time V.N. Prilepskaya – head of the scientific and polyclinic department of the Scientific Center of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of Russian Academy of medical Sciences.
Prilepskaya’s scientific activity is dedicated to various aspects of contraception, gynecological endocrinology, family planning, cervical pathology and sexually transmitted diseases.
Vera Prilepskaya is an organizer of the "Mother and child" forums, international congresses, symposia, seminars for Russian doctors on topical (actual) problems of obstetrics and gynecology. At the initiative of Vera Prilepskaya in 1993 was created the Russian Society for Contraception. In 1997, under the leadership of Prilepskaya, was created an International Public Organization "Association for the pathology of the cervix and colposcopy".
Vera Prilepskaya is the founder of the school of obstetrician-gynecologists. Prilepskaya is the author of 426 scientific papers , the author and co-author of 12 books. She is an editor-in-chief of the magazines "Contraception and women’s health", "Gynecology", "Cervical pathology and genital infections", member of the editorial board of the magazines "Obstetrics and gynecology", "Family planning", "Problems of reproduction", "Osteoporosis and osteopenia", member of the editorial board of 3 international magazines.
Vera Prilepskaya is a President of the Russian Society for contraception (since 1993), President of the International Public Organization "Association for pathology of the cervix and colposcopy" (from 1997), Chairman of the Committee on Obstetrics and gynecology and Member of the Pharmacological committee of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Association for family planning, Member of the Association of gynecologists and endocrinologists, honorary member of the Hungarian association of obstetricians and gynecologists, member of the board of directors of the European Society for contraception, American women’s consortium.
