Lorraine Hopping studied at Kalamazoo College and received the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982.
She also graduated from New York University continuing education Program in 1990.
Lorraine Hopping Egan began her career as a reporter for Electronic Learning in 1982-1983. She then became an assistant editor for teaching and computers in 1983–86. Since 1988, she served as editor of the magazine in New York on futures, and she held it until 1991. Since 1986, she also worked as a freelance writer. In 1991, she was appointed Director of Product Development at Aristoplay in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
