Given title of doctor of laws and appointed secretary legation, Republic of Central America, in Washington, 1896.

Appointed charge d’affaires same republic few months later. Charge d’affaires of Nicaragua, 1898.

Envoy Extraordinary anu Minister Plenipotentiary of Nicaragua to the United States, 1899-1909. Minister to Mexico City, 1901.
