Graduated from the Moscow Teachers’ Institute, 1960.
Career
For a short time taught in Kamchatka. In 1968 returned to Moscow. His poems became known in samizdat.
Became
a poet-singer. Belongs to the generation of ballad singers which includes Okudzhava, Vysotskii, Galich and Matveeva, whose songs were distributed through magnitizdat (selfmade tapes). Now officially recognized, some of his songs have been recorded by Melodia, the USSR’s official record company.
