Madeline Wikler was born on August 30, 1943, in New York City, New York, United States. She is the daughter of Alfred and Fay (Dwoskin) Meyers.
Madeline Wikler studied at Brown University where she received a degree in 1965.
Madeline Wikler started her career as a staff writer at Community Progress Inc. in 1965. In 1966 she took up a post of an editor and writer at the National Community Development Association and held it until 1972. She also worked as a staff writer at Kirshner Associates.
Madeline Wikler together with Judye Groner cofounded Kar-Ben Copies, Inc. in 1975. Madeline and Judye wrote a lot of books that revolve around the calendar of Jewish holidays, and explain various rites for readers of pre-school or early elementary age. They wrote such books as Miracle Meals: Eight Nights of Food 'N Fun for Chanukah, All About Hanukkah, All About Yom Kippur and Come, Let Us Welcome Shabbat. Wikler has also illustrated books herself, including Marji Gold-Vukson’s 1998 book The Colors of My Jewish New Year.
