1911 graduate Medical Faculty, Kiev University.
After graduate associate, V. P. Obraztsov's Clinic, Kiev University. 1917, while working at Pavlov's Laboratory, defended doctor’s thesis on an improved method of differentiating external stimuli. From 1920 head, Chair of Diagnosis and Regional Pathology, then Chair of the Propaldeutics of Internal Diseases, Kiev Medical Institute.
Did major research on the physiology and pathology' of blood circulation and neurohumoral regulation. Studied the third normal sound of the heart and the phenomenon of cardiac murmur. Made widely-acclaimed studies of the clinical physiology' and pathology of the digestive system, notably of the pancreas, intestines, stomach and liver.
Studied the clinical aspects of chronic appendicitis and described several new symptoms. Also did research on pain, describing several biochemical changes in the blood and some internal organs in its presence. A pupil of V. P. Obraztsov, he himself trained a large number of internists, including 12 professor
