Man-Lun Ng was born on October 14, 1946, in Hong Kong, China. He is a son of Fei-yang Ng, a philologist, and Wing-hsia (Li) Ng, a homemaker.
In 1971 Man-Lun Ng received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Doctor of Medicine in 1992.
From 1972 to 1973 Man-Lun Ng was a medical officer in university psychiatric unit at the Queen Mary Hospital in Hong Kong, China. From 1973 to 1981 he served as a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong and a senior lecturer from 1981 to 1993, a reader from 1993 to 1996, and became a professor of psychiatry in 1996. In 1981 Ng became an honorary consultant in psychiatry at the Queen Mary Hospital. In 1973 he was a member of Auxiliary Medical Service at the Government of Hong Kong, an adviser to Law Reform Commission in 1983, and a medical inspector of the Supreme Court in 1985. From 1986 to 1991 Ng was a vice-chairperson of Advisory Group on Sexual and Marital Problems of the Handicapped at the Hong Kong Association for the Physically Handicapped and Able Bodied.
In 1990 he was appointed a chairperson of organizing committee at the Asian Federation for Sexology. He served as a president from 1992 to 1994 and became a director in 1992. In 1993 he was a member of Television Program Advisory Panel at the RadioTelevision Hong Kong. In 1994 Ng was appointed a director of the Harmony House, Hong Kong. From 1997 to 1999 he served as assessor of the Medical Council of Hong Kong. In 1997 he was an adviser at the TeenAIDS.
Man-Lun Ng is an author of "Sexual Behavior in Modern China: A Report of the Nationwide Sex-Civilization Survey on 20,000 Subjects in China" (1997) and an editor of "Sexuality in Asia" (1993). He is a script writer and speaker for several radio and television series on Chinese sexual attitudes and practices and an author of more than fifteen regular newspaper columns in Chinese, beginning in 1989.
Man-Lun Ng is a member of the World Association for Sexology, of the International Academy of Eclectic Psychotherapists, of the International Academy of Sex Research, of the Hong Kong Medical Association, of the Psychotherapy Society of Hong Kong. He is a life member of the Hong Kong Family Planning Association and of the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong.
On September 19, 1972 Man-Lun Ng married May Sui, a homemaker. They have two children: Luk-pan, Tina Luk-ting.
