Background
Ahtesham was born in 1948 in Bhopal, in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and did his studies at the Aligarh Muslim University.

Ahtesham is a recipient of several awards such as Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Puruskar, Shrikant Verma Smriti Samman, Virsingh Deo Award, Vageshwari Award, Shikhar Samman and Pahal Samman.
