Fourrier received Engineering Degrees from Ecole Polytechnique in 1976 and Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1978, and an M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1978.

From 1988 to June 1997, Fourrier served as Principal of Cleversys S.A. He Co-founded ILOG SA and Kiala S.A./ N.V. He co-founded several consulting firms in IT and supply chain management, including Eurosept Associates, which he sold to EDS, and Cleversys, which he sold to Kurt Salmon & Associates. Fourrier served as Director of Wavecom S.A. from 1993 to 1997 and again served as its Director since 1997. He served as Director of ILOG SA from April 1987 to December 2008. His other outside Directorships include: High Deal, a privately-held French company, and, as representative of Delphis, Dexem, a privately-held French company; and Kiala, a privately-held Belgian company.
