Margaret Simpson was born on February 15, 1943, in Liverpool, England, to Kenneth Simpson, a sea captain, and Mary Simpson, a nurse.
Margaret attended Merchant Taylors' Girls' School and Newnham College, University of Cambridge.
Margaret Simpson taught in London schools for a couple of years and then after her children were born began writing novels. As a result of these came offers of work in television, for both the BBC and for independent TV companies, as well as radio, from which she has since made her living. She also continues to write novels, plays, and short stories.
Margaret's TV credits include the Emmerdale Farm TV series, Magic Grandad TV series, The Bill TV series, and others. Margaret's original radio plays include Thursday's Child and Mrs. Battley's Will. She also dramatized Goodbye, Mr. Chips for BBC Radio.

2000Over the years Margaret's spiritual life became increasingly important to her. She began to meditate in 1975 and in 1984 she read an article on Siddha Yoga Meditation. This appealed to her so much that she found her way to a public program and has been attending Siddha Yoga Ashrams and centers ever since.
