Gurley, Margot Carmichael Lester was born on January 30, 1962 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. Daughter of Robert MacDonald and Margaret McCaull (Carmichael) L.
Lester is a Bachelor in Journalism. She studied at the University of North Carolina and graduated in 1983.
Lester's first job right out of college was a coordinator of public affairs, where she mixed her vocation and avocation. She worked with the media relations and government affairs directors, handling everything from administrative duties to newsletter and news release writing and working directly with media and congressional staffers.
After five years as a coordinator, Lester became a Director of Marketing in Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Since 1993 Lester founded The Worf Factory, agency, which works with global brands and other businesses to create content (including brand journalism and infographics), develop/improve output and workflows, and create campaigns that drive operational goals - online and otherwise. She is a Content Executive, Operations Strategist, Creative Producer & Writing Coach for The Word Factory.
Lester was also an editor, contributor, correspondent, and author of many articles, columns, and books on different topics.
