Background

Marie Landis was born on October 16, 1920 in Seattle, Washington, United States. She was the daughter of Charles E. Landis and Fay (Taberini) Landis.

Education

Marie Landis attended the University of Washington in Seattle and El Camino College.

Career

Marie Landis was a zoning administrator at the City of Hermosa Beach, California during 1965-1970. She then worked as an assistant manager and personnel director from 1971 to 1978.

Landis was a self-employed real estate appraiser in Seattle, Washington in 1979-1980. From 1981 she was a secretary for a real estate brokerage in Seattle. Besides, she was a melange (interior design studio) partner and designer. Landis was also a manager of youth programs for the federal government during 1965-1970.

Additionally, she was an author, who published in collaboration with Brian Herbert. Among her works are "Memorymakers" (1991) and "The World of Darkness: Vampire: Blood on the Sun" (1997).

Achievements

• Marie Landis was a winner of the national contest sponsored by Narcotics Education, Inc. in 1982 for young adult suspense writing. She also was the recipient of the awards from the Pacific Northwest Conference in 1983 for a juvenile short story and in 1986 for a scientific article.
  
  Her other awards included the Writer's Digest award in 1988 for an adult short story, the annual horror/mystery award from Amelia in 1989, and the award from the National Writers Association in 1993 for an adult science fiction story, among others.

Marie Landis married Millard Ray Yarbrough, but he died in 1955. She then married James Betcone in 1959, but the couple divorced in 1965. Marie Landis married her third husband, Deloss G. Edwards, on March 18, 1972.
