Marilyn Wallace received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the City University of New York, in 1962. She also attended the New School for Social Research, City University of New York, from 1963 to 1966 and studied at Golden Gate University in 1982.
From 1962 to 1966, Marilyn Wallace was an English teacher, in Brooklyn and in Philmont, New York, from 1973 to 1978. She also was pastry chef in Albany, New York, in 1979 and vice president at Western Logic Corporation, in San Anselmo, California, from 1981 to 1985.
Marilyn Wallace set her mysteries A Case of Loyalties (1986) and Primary Target (1988) in the San Francisco Bay area, where she was living at the time. These two novels feature the team of Jay Goldstein and Carlos Cruz, two detectives on the Oakland, California police force. Wallace’s other works have been set in such places as the small town of Taconic Hills and New York City.
Wallace also edited a number of anthologies affiliated with Sisters in Crime, an organization devoted to promoting mysteries written by women.
