From 2007 to 2013 she appeared under the name of Marina Romanko. Guseva was the runner up in the Under16 Girls" European Youth Chess Championship 2001. She competed in the Women"s World Chess Championship 2012, in which was knocked out in the first round by the eventual runner up Antoaneta Stefanova.
She took part in the Women"s European Club Cup 2014 playing for Ugra team
She was a member of the Russian women"s team that won silver in the Women"s 2nd World Team Chess Championship in Ningbo and gold in the 8th European Team Chess Championship in Novi Sad, both in 2009. Romanko took part in the Women"s World Chess Championship 2010, but was eliminated in the second round by the eventual winner Hou Yifan. In February 2012 she won the women"s tournament of the Moscow Open. In October 2012 she helped her team Ugra to win bronze in the European Chess Club Cup (women"s section). In February 2013 Romanko won the women"s tournament of the Moscow Open for the second year in a row. In October 2013 she played for Ugra team that took silver in the Women"s European Club Cup and won individual bronze on fourth board. Guseva scored 4.5/6 and won the gold medal on fourth board. In July 2015 she won the Women"s Russian Championship Higher League and therefore qualified for the Women"s Superfinal.
