Mariya Malysheva lived in Zadonsk of the Voronezh governorate with her parents (since January 1828) and in Voronezh itself (since May 1831). In 1864, she moved to Saint-Petersburg, where she was earning her living by writing. Since 1885 she started to live at S.N. Yafa’s, daughter of N.I. Vtorov. Malysheva was translating to Russian the fairytales of H.C. Andersen, making translations for «Niva» magazine (till 1873).
Comes from the family of Malyshev Ivan Andreevich, who was the doctor of Aleksey Vasilyevich Koltsov. Sister of Ivan Malyshev and Vasiliy Malyshev.
