Mark Ford was born on the 24th of June, 1962 in Nairobi, Kenya. He is the son of Donald and Mary Ford.
Mark Ford attended school in London, then entering Lincoln College and Harvard University. He also got a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Oxford University.
Mark began his career in 1991. He was a visiting lecturer at Kyoto University in Japan for two years. Nowadays Ford is a Professor in the English Department at University College London.
Mark published his first book in 1991. Since then he has authored more than ten works. His collections of poetry include Landlocked, Soft Sift, Six Children, Selected Poems, and Enter, Fleeing. He authored a biography, Raymond Roussel and the Republic of Dreams. Ford has published two collections of criticism, A Driftwood Altar and Mr and Mrs Stevens and Other Essays. He also edited the anthology London: A History in Verse. Mark was also a contributor to The New York Review of Books, The Times Literary Supplement and The London Review of Books.
