Weinbaum, Mark was born in 1900.


For many decades, editor of the New York Russian newspaper Novoe Russkoe Slovo. (As no pre-1917 newspaper survived in the Soviet Union, this New York newspaper, founded in the early 20th century, is now the oldest existing Russian newspaper in the world. Apart from serving the Russian community in the USA, it is read in many other countries.) Maintained a consistently liberal and anti-communist line.

Also for many years chairman of the Literatumyi Fond, an aid organization for Russian writers in exile.
