Mark Edward Weber Edit Profile

director , editor-in-chief

Mark Edward Weber is the director of the Institute for Historical Review, an American Holocaust denial organization based in Newport Beach, California.

Weber, Mark Edward was born on October 9, 1951 in Portland, Oregon, United States. Son of Stanley Edward and Yvonne (Bernard) Weber.

Bachelor with high honors, Portland State University, 1976. Master of Arts, Indiana University, 1978.

Weber has been associated with the IHR since the 1980s. In 1992 he became editor-in-chief of the IHR's Journal of Historical Review. Weber was subsequently named the institute's Director in 1995.

He continued his studies for two semesters at the University of Munich, and, returning to Oregon, took a B.A. degree in history with high honors from Portland State University. In graduate school, he continued his study of history at Indiana University, receiving an M.A. degree in modern European history in 1977. Beginning in 1978 Weber became involved with the National Alliance, a far-right white supremacist organization.

In 1979 Weber served as the editor of the group's magazine, the National Vanguard. Throughout the 1980s Weber functioned as the treasurer of the National Alliance's Cosmotheist Community Church, a pseudoreligious entity founded by William Luther Pierce. During this period Weber became more heavily involved with the IHR as well as collaborating with Bradley Smith and the Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust (CODOH).

After graduating from Jesuit High School in 1969, he studied history in Chicago at the University of Illinois.

In 2009, Weber wrote an article where he said that the IHR's efforts at Holocaust denial had been almost entirely ineffective, and as a result he was going to have the IHR focus on "Jewish-Zionist power" instead. Many deniers were publicly furious with Weber because their efforts had been aimed at rehabilitating Nazism in general and Adolf Hitler specifically, and their general appreciation of anti-Israeli/Jewish groups that also espoused Holocaust denial (such as the Iranian government and Hezbollah) did not mean they wanted those groups to become the anti-Jewish vanguard instead of revived National Socialism.
