Ediger received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1958 and a Master of Science degree in Education in 1960 from Emporia State University.
Ediger was born on October 10, 1927 in Inman, Kansas, United States; the son of Jacob E. Ediger and Maria G. Regier.
Ediger studied at Turkey Creek Elementary School and Inman High School. He studied at Bethel College for two years. Marlow received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Kansas State Teachers College (nowadays Emporia State University) in 1958. Two years later he earned his Master of Science degree in Education from the same college. In 1963, Marlow was given a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Denver.
Ediger began his career as a teacher at Sand Creek School in 1951. A year later he took a position of a teacher of English at Lancaster Mennonite School. Then in 1953, Marlow became a teacher of English and geography at Friends Boys School, where he worked until 1954.
In 1955, he was appointed a teacher of Countryside School of Lehigh. Two years later Marlow held the same position at Lincolnville Grade School. Then in 1962, he became a professor of education at Truman State University. In 1992 Ediger became Professor Emeritus at the same university.
Dr. Marlow Ediger had upwards of one thousand written manuscripts published in education in six continents. He also had 31 co-authored textbooks published for university use.
Ediger appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the Midwest and Who’s Who in the World.
Ediger was the president of the Marion County Kansas Teachers Association. He was a member of the National Education Association, State Teachers Association, Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, International Literacy Association, National Council for the Social Studies, National Council of Teachers of English and National Science Teachers Association.
On June 2, 1957 Marlow married Mary Elaine Duerksen. They have three children.
