Pomeroy, Mary Barnas was born on March 3, 1921 in Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany. Arrived in the United States, 1946. Daughter of Carl Franz Joseph and Elizabeth Jacoba Gertruida (Van Holk) Barnas.


Student, college, Quito, Ecuador, 1936-1938;studied with father/German-Ecuadorean, artist Carl Barnas, Quito, 1938-1946;student, Pennsylvania Academy Fine Arts, Philadelphia, 1946-1948;studied with Daniel Garber, Roy Nuse,, Franklin Watkins and Henry, Pitz.


Illustrator geology Department, University Center, Quito, 1939-1942;illustrator paleontology department, International Petroleum Company, Guayaquil, Ecuador, 1943-1944;scientific illustrator botany department, University of California, Berkeley, 1948-1953;freelance artist, since 1953.
