Quotations:
"I have no choice, but to write. I realize that sounds dramatic and I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. I believe, that the writing profession chooses you, not vice versa. And while good writing is extremely difficult, it is far easier to accomplish, than not writing at all."
"My sixth grade teacher pointed out to me, that I was a good writer. Until then, I didn’t realize that, although I was aware of being different from other kids. So the teacher’s observation was good news. I decided by the seventh grade to be a reporter, which was my first profession. Since then, I’ve wandered from one writing field to another, and I love each experience."
"I also read a lot in the cold months. I dissect everything, figuring out what other authors did, that I like or don’t like, picking up tips and techniques, that I can incorporate into my own work."
Mary is a member of Women's National Book Association.
Mary married Dennis E. Rhodes, a human resources consultant, on July 20, 1968. Their marriage produced three children — Shanley Kristine, Jason Dennis and Amy Kathleen.
