Mary studied at Douglas College. In 1967 he became a Bachelor of Arts. In three years he received a degree of the Master of Arts of the Syracuse University in New York City, United States. In 1977 he was a student of the University of Santa Clara. He received a degree of the Juris Doctor.
Mary was a head resident at Syracuse University in New York, United States from 1967 to 1969, and at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, United States from 1969 to 1970. In this year she became an assistant dean of the student services in Mills College in Oakland, United States. She worked there until 1974. From 1977 to 1982 she worked as a staff counsel at the board prison terms in Sacramento.
From 1982 to 1987 she was a Vice-president and dean of the student life at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, United States. In this year she became a dean of the student academic services at the University of Colorado in Denver, United States. She worke there until 1989.
Since 1989 Mary was an ombuds officer. From 1990 to 1991 she worked as an acting director of affirmative action. Since 1991 she worked as an assistant Vice-chair of the academy affairs.
