Masaaki Kosaka graduated from Kyoto University in 1928.
After graduating from Kyoto University Masaaki Kosaka made a special study of the history of philosophy under Dr. Kitaro Nishida. He came to be known as the chief scholar of the so called Kyoto Academic School. Masaaki was purged at the end of the war in 1946 and after being depurged was re-appointed professor at Kyoto University in 1955.
