Masakiyo Miyamoto was born on August 16, 1898 in Kochi Prefecture, Japan.
He graduated from Waseda University in 1924.
While teaching as assistant professor of the Kansai Franco-Japanese Institution (from 1927) devoted himself to study and translation of works of Romain Rolland. Assumed additional posts as professor of Osaka Municipal University and instructor of Doshisha University in 1950. He went to France as a Franco-Japanese exchange professor in 1951. Served as director of Franco-Japanese Association and vice-president of Japan Society of Friends of Romain Rolland.
