Kyo Tsunedo was born on December 3, 1888 in Matsue, Shimane, Japan.
In 1916 Kyo Tsunedo graduated from Kyoto University, in 1924 came to Europe for further education.
After graduarion from Kyoto University Kyo Tsunedo was appointed as a professor at Doshisha University and then, in 1922, as an assistant professor at Kyoto University. But in 1924 he left and came to Europe to continue his education and in 1929 returned to Kyoto University as a professor. But in 1933 Kyo Tsunedo resigned over the Takikawa Case (involving the purge of Tokiyuki Takikawa, professor of Kyoto University, due to his liberalistic views). After the war in 1949 was appointed as the president of Osaka Municipal University.
