In 1335 he subdued the followers in Mutsu of Tokiyuki Hojo and then Sadamitsu Soga, an ally of Takauji Ashikaga, in Tsugaru Province (Aomori Prefecture). Afterward, he rejected the invitation of Takauji to join his anti-Imperial forces and consistently worked for the South Dynasty.
