Masashi Yamamoto entered Nomura Bank (1928) and served as vice-manager of Nagoya Branch (from 1922), manager of Shinagawa, Ichikawa and Kobe branches, chief of Business Department of the head office, manager of Tokyo Branch and then director (from 1947). Resigned (1948).
The same year became managing director of Nomura Mining Company and appointed its president (1950), Founded and became president of Hokko Kagaku Kaisha (Hokko Chemical Company) (1950).
Masashi Yamamoto served also as representative director of Atosato Sulphur Mining Company (1951-1952). Assumed additional post of director of Musa Mine Company (1952). Renamed Hokko Chemistry Company to Hokko Chemical Industry Company and continued as president (1953).
