Yamada Masashiro founded Yamakan Shoten (Store) in 1923. He reorganized the store into a joint-stock company and continued as its president in 1947.
Held additional posts of chairman of Takeo Chamber of Commerce & Industry, vice-chair-man of Takeo Branch of Fukui Prefectural United Nations Association, was a member of Fukui Rotary Club, counselor of Fukui Prefectural UNESCO Cooperative Association, vice-chairman of Fukui Prefectural League of Chambers of Commerce & Industry and chairman of Oda Orimono Kaisha (Oda Textiles Company).
