Education
Was a distinguished student of Meirinkan, the clan school. A close friend of Shoin Yoshida, he helped Yoshida in his activities to educate youths of the clan.
Career
In 1858, when the political situation in Japan wail strained, he went to Kyoto and engaged in pro-imperialist activities.
After Yoshida was executed in 1859, he took charge of the Shoka Sonjuku School, which was founded by Yoshida. In 1862, he died while engaging in a movement against the pro-Shogunate policies of Uta Nagai, elder retainer of the Choshu Clan.
