After graduation he joined the Ministry of Communication, and became Director of the Hiroshima Communication Bureau. After resigning from the Ministry of Communication, he was appointed by Prime Minister Gen. Hideki as a Director of the Power Supply Bureau of the Commerce and Industry Ministry. After the war's end, he became Mayor of Omuta City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Since then, he has been active in politician. He became chairman of the political affairs research council of the Democratic Party, served as Parliamentary Vice Minister for Finance with the Ashida Cabinet, and was chairman of the Diet policy committee of the Progressive Party. He was elected to the Lower House four times but was defeated in the 1955 general elections.
