He is best known for his roles as John Bennett in the Netflix comedy-drama series Orange Is the New Black and Asher Millstone on American Broadcasting Company"s How to Get Away with Murder. McGorry was also previously a competitive bodybuilder. McGorry is Jewish (halachically by his mother), identifies himself as a feminist and is interested in various social issues.
On television, McGorry made his debut in 2011 on American Broadcasting Company daytime soap opera One Life to Live.
He later appeared in small guest-starring roles on Person of Interest, Gossip Girl, and Royal Pains. In 2013, McGorry began a recurring role on the Netflix dramedy series Orange Is the New Black as Corrections Officer John Bennett.
In the same year, he was cast in the indie drama How He Fell in Love.
