Assistant manager, Brooklyn Philharmonic, part-time 1956-1970; artistic director, Brooklyn Philharmonic, since 1970; co-founder, artistic director, The Classic Theatre, off-off-Broadway, since 1974; co-founder, program director, The Cubiculo, off-off-Broadway, 1968-1973; co-founder, program director, Actors Opera, 1962-1963. Instructor speech City College of New York, 1967-1968, Living Theatre, 1959-1961. Director numerous plays and operas, including Epicoene, Cain, Cry of Clytaemnestra, Notes from Underground, Each in His Own Way, Mary Tudor, The Physicists, Danton's Death, Alcestis, Press Clippings, Ontological Proof of My Existence, Macbeth, Barefoot in the Park, My Faust, The Birds, A New Way to Pay Old Debts, The Jew of Malta, Samson Agonistes, Trickster of Seville, Cain.

Appeared in original company The Golden Apple, 1954, Fiddler on the Roof, 1963-1966. Also numerous plays at Classic Theatre, The Fantasticks, 1962-1963, A Man's a Man, 1961-1962, The Threepenny Opera (with Lotte Lenya), The Beggars Opera, Kismet, Don Juan in Hell, numerous summer theatres, radio and television shows.
