Green’s early career included work at the Chicago Herald-Examiner and the Chicago Tribune as reporter and editor. In 1957, he was a reporter with the Los Angeles Times before joining KNXT News as a television reporter and producer. Beginning in 1970, he worked with KNBC and produced documentaries and hosted the show Inquiry. He also founded Maury Green Enterprises, Inc., which provided consultation services and production work. He lectured at the University of California, Los Angeles, in journalism, and also appeared as himself in films such as The Candidate. During his career, he wrote, hosted, and produced CBS Morning News’ West Coast Edition.
