1976Quotes from others about the person
''For most photographers, the stage is a trap,'' Gene Thornton wrote in a review in The New York Times of an exhibition at the New York Cultural Center. ''The exaggerated gestures and makeup look grotesque and absurd when seen from as close as photographers usually work. Waldman couldn't care less. He is frankly, openly, blatantly theatrical himself, and makes not the slightest effort either to convince or debunk.''
