It's been said "those who don't know their history are destined to repeat it." It's important for women to know their health history, as well. Women often keep gratitude journals, love diaries and the like. Now comes a diary to help women keep up with, and pay attention to their health, and to do so in a way that's easy, personal, yet informative. A health book that's all about you. The HEALTH DIARY was created to encourage all women--and especially those in minority populations--to pay closer attention to their health, and thus, help change the statistics on women's health in those communities. "Despite major advances in medicine, certain groups of women still carry the worst prognosis and statistics for major illnesses, including heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, fibroids, infant mortality, stroke and more. This is especially true in Black women, but Hispanics and others have room for improvement," says the author, Dr. McCloud. This book provides an easy approach to healthier living. The book's cover represents it's purpose: whether you're a woman who just likes color; is Black, Hispanic, Asian, or other, or whatever your skin color is, this book is for you. Health tips specifically addressing concerns of African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Native American and Asian women are included. It's a timeless tool for doctor visits, family reflections and helps mothers jump-start their young daughters into caring for their health. It's time to prosper and be in health.

(Sex, health, happiness and wealth...you know you want it!...)
Sex, health, happiness and wealth...you know you want it! And there's no better time than now for having it all and 'gettin' it good! But sometimes factors get in the way, and it can be hell. Disparaging images in the media. The subject of misogynistic lyrics and derogatory comments from famous celebrities and bloggers unknown. Colorism. The largest demographic of women who live as head-of-household and a growing shortage of marriage-minded (and marriage-worthy) Black men. These are just some of the ways Black women proverbially 'catch hell' in today's society. As if the attack on their image and psyche isn't enough, Black women also disproportionately suffer from killer diseases such as diabetes, cancer, infant mortality, HIV/AIDS and more. Yet despite all the psycho-social attacks (the 'hell') Black women face, they have the lowest rate of suicide compared to other demographics and many live phenomenally well as cherished wives, trailblazing professionals and entrepreneurs. But these struggles are rarely validated, and these successes rarely acknowledged. Living Well, Despite Catchin Hell is a book that does just that. It provides head-to-toe medical advice on heart disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, fibroid tumors and other medical diagnoses, and it acknowledges the direct effect such social rejection and attacks (the 'hell') that Black women experience on a near-daily basis have on their psyche and physical health. How some Black women hurt their own lives and well-being will also be examined. The physician-author's groundbreaking 'Rejection Connection' flowchart clearly demonstrates how these social stressors significantly contribute to the continuing state of Black women s health. It serves as a much needed eye-opener, not only to women readers, but also to media executives, health professionals, sociologists and others who seek to understand and mitigate the causative factors adversely affecting today s Black woman. With an upbeat approach (and with health as the common thread woven through each section), Living Well, Despite Catchin' Hell is professional medical advice, sexology, sociology, psychology, dashes of pop culture and hefty doses of personal responsibility. It is the one-source, go-to health reference Black women need in order to live healthy, happy, long and strong in the 21st century. (An E-book version will be available later this year.)

"HEART RHYTHMS, MIND MELODIES, AND SO ON…: the song of the soul in poetry" is the debut anthology of writings by writer and poet, T. H. Tessema. With musical metaphor as the overarching theme staging this literary production, "HEART RHYTHMS" features over forty-five compositions of poetry and prose which were penned by the author between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five years old. Publishing some of the works in this collection a decade after writing them, Tessema regards her early poetic strivings in "HEART RHYTHMS" as the literature that defined her identity as a poet. In this semi-autobiographical book, the author vividly depicts the highs and lows of her human journey in a visceral tune that is sure to strike a chord with readers! While the collection includes several upbeat pieces , "HEART RHYTHMS" also candidly reveals Tessema’s relatable experiences of heartache, pain, and personal struggles. Yet, in the presence of her hardships, the resounding message echoing from the author’s song is one of love, hope, survival, and growth. In the Preface of "HEART RHYTHMS", Tessema writes the following regarding the import of poetry to her soul: “I do not know when and where it all began and ended, or if it has ended yet, or if it has really even begun at all. The “it” about which I am speaking is the song that rouses my soul; it is a song which I have found that I am able to communicate, in part, through this art form called poetry... When I have felt low and nearly ready to sink into despair, poetry has kept me afloat. When my weary eyes have been almost all set to close on this life, poetry has stirred me awake and tapped me on the shoulder in the sweet whispers of words… When I am restless, poetry is the lullaby that soothes me. When I am unknowing, poetry is the nursery rhyme that instructs me. When I am lonely, poetry is the lover that serenades me…” (p. i). Come join T. H. Tessema on this stirring poetic odyssey as she journeys inward to discover the music rising from her heart, mind, and soul. As you read and witness her song, it is the author’s prayer that you too may find a part of your song inside the pages of this book!
