Merle Jacob earned Bachelor of Arts from University of Michigan in 1968. In 1969 she received her Master of Arts from University of Chicago. Mrs. Jacob also obtained Master of Library Science degree from Rosary College, River Forest, Illinois, in 1976.
Career
In 1967 Mrs. Jacob worked at Chicago Historical Society Library, Chicago, IL, as a manuscript librarian. From 1969 to 1975 Merle Jacob served as the head of history department at Academy of the acred Heart, Chicago. Between 1976 and 1978 she held the position of an inference librarian at Park Ridge Public Library, Park Ridge, IL.
Merle Jacob was appointed young adult librarian at Skokie Public Library, Jmkie, IL, during 1978-1980, from 1980 till 1986 she served the head of Readers Advisory, and in 1986-1991 coordinator of collection evelopment. Since 1991 she worked at Chicago Public Library, ChiCago, helding the post of an adult materials selection specialist.
Mrs. Jacob was a contributor to books, including The Illinois Humane Society, and periodicals, including Library Journal.
