Actor director producer screenwriter
Michael Austin was born in 1910 in Guernsey, Channel Islands, United Kingdom.
For his first screenplay, 1978's The Shout, Austin served as a screenwriter and associate producer. For 1989’s Killing Dad and 1994’s Princess Caraboo, he not only wrote the screenplay but served also as a director.
Austin gained his popularity, however, for a screenplay he co-wrote with P. H. Vazak: Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, released in 1984. Greystoke was taken from the Tarzan novels of early twentieth-century British author Edgar Rice Burroughs, and critics of the film generally agree that Austin’s version is more faithful to the original spirit of Burroughs’ work than the many Tarzan films made in previous decades.
Michael Austin was also an actor and played in. However, after his film, Princess Caraboo of 1994, Austin retired and continued living in Los Angeles.
British screenwriter Michael Austin has served in many capacities of the film industry. During his career, he has written the story of Princess Caraboo, released in 1994. Also a screenwriter and producer, Michael Austin has worked on The Shout, released in 1978. Michael Austin was also a movie director and has worked on movies such as Princess Caraboo, released in 1994.
The Austin's screenplay, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, brought him an Academy Award nomination in 1985—shared with Vazak—for best writing of a screenplay based on material from another medium.
