Bakarich received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1951. Twenty three years later, he was given a Master of Arts from Pennsylvania State University. Also the same year, he earned his diploma from the United States Army War College.
Bakarich served as a sergeant at the United States Army in Fort Bragg, North Carolina from 1946 to 1948. Three years later, he became a brigadier general and held the position until his retirement in 1980.
In 1980, Michael took the position of manager of administrative services at Bechtel in Ann Arbor. Then four years later Bakarich was appointed a manager of materials, purchasing, and contracts at Grand Gulf nuclear station Entergy in Port Gibson, Mississippi, and in St. Francisville, Louisiana from 1995 to 2000.
In 2000, Michael was a manager of emergency preparedness at Riverbend nuclear station. Since 2003, Bakarich has been a Director of Yesterday's Children Antique Doll and Toy Museum in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
On December 31, 1952 Michael Bakarich married Carolyn Cross. They have 10 children.
