This work examines advances in architecture, design, and painting in a region now recognized for its contribution to the Arts and Crafts and Prairie School movements. Brothers Sterling and Stephen Clarkheirs to the Singer sewing machine fortunewere among the twentieth century’s most influential art collectors. While the brothers shared a love for great art, they collected in different ways.
