Career
Prokop began his career at the Hotel InterContinental in Cologne in 1981, progressing from management trainee to assistant night manager by 1984. He then joined the Penta Hotel in New York City, where he worked from cashier supervisor to assistant front office manager between 1984 and 1986.
From 1986 to 1987, he served as assistant food and beverage manager at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski in Munich. He subsequently held the same position at the Hotel Semiramis InterContinental in Cairo from 1987 to 1989, gaining further experience in international luxury hospitality operations.
In 1989, Prokop became director of food and beverage at the Montien Hotel in Bangkok. From 1990 to 1992, he served as executive assistant manager for food and beverage at the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Hong Kong.
He continued his advancement in senior hotel administration as resident manager of the Holiday Inn Grand View Garden in Beijing from 1992 to 1993 and later as resident manager of the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, from 1994 to 1997.
Beginning in 1997, Prokop served as resident manager of the Hotel InterContinental and Forum Hotel in Frankfurt, Germany. In 1999, he became general manager of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wiesbaden.
