Since 1805 he was a giant already when a boy and trained by Shikoroyama, a wrestler in Yedo. His first professional name was Oguruma. He later changed it to Komidori and Tsunekichi Kovanagi.
In 1828 he rose to the second grade in. In 1834 he emerged as Champion, when he again changed his name to Midorinosuke Abunomatsu. He was crowned Grand Champion in 1835. He served the Lord of the Nagato Clan.
His surviving family kept the noted Matsumiya-tei, a plebeian variety theater in Nihonbashi in downtown Yedo.
Physical Characteristics: He was five feet nine inches tall and weighed 330 pounds.
