He was a commander of the 68th Guards Rifle Regiment (3rd Attack Army, 1st Belorussian Front), distinguished himself in the Berlin operation. He organized a breakthrough of the strongly fortified enemy defense from the bridgehead on the Oder River in the area of the town of Kinitz (Germany) on April 16, 1945.
Colonel Knyazev was retired since 1955. He lived and worked in Voronezh.
